The first step in a lifelong love of learning begins here at St. Monica School. Our Preschool is designed to help the child develop the social skills necessary for group play, to learn how to navigate the classroom environment, and to begin the process of independent problem-solving. Exploration, free and creative play, in our theme-based curriculum, all help to develop the desire to learn, thus ensuring a positive and loving experience for the child. Due to the fact that the preschool years have such a broad developmental range, we strive to meet the needs of each child in our program. Exposure to letter, number, shape, and color recognition allows us to keep each child learning at his or her own rate, and helps refine skills that will have our students prepared for Kindergarten. Our curriculum focuses on exposing the children to learning possibilities. The children's classroom is divided into learning centers in order to enable the children to move freely and choose their own activities. At certain times during the day, the teachers direct the children in meetings, arts & crafts, and literature.
Our Kindergarten program is exceptional, with students reading, computing, reciting prayers, and being comfortable attending Mass. St. Monica School teachers provide students a traditional classroom experience with daily hands-on learning activities for both literacy and math integrated with technology. Our Kindergarten program is rigorous and highly engaging, encouraging our students to develop a love of learning and positive self-image, supported by teachers who are dedicated to ensuring each child’s success and development to their fullest potential.
St. Monica School is excited to provide a Catholic-based early childhood program for the residents of Methuen and surrounding areas. We would like to thank the Sisters of Presentation of Mary Academy for their service to early childhood education all these years.
