Grade 6 will begin their adventure into Algebra
The Source Book (textbook) for Grade 6 is The Fundamentals of Algebra which is in alignment with the Common Core State Standard., this book is organized into small, manageable lessons allowing for a better understanding of skills and concepts, so students get the necessary skills for Algebra and Geometry. There is a focus on conceptual development for all learners, while building knowledge lesson by lesson. The book also develops fluency and conceptual understanding in a number of different ways, first by deepening understanding with vocabulary, then cognitive rigor, and higher-level thinking skills. The Sourcebook (textbook) allows students to focus on learning skills and concepts before moving onto independent practice in the Practice Book (workbook).
Grade 6 will be learning and focusing on the following concepts: Integers(adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing), solving Expressions and Equations, Inequalities, Formulas, Rational Numbers: Decimals and Fractions, One-Step and Two-Step Equations, Ratio and Proportions, Percent and Consumer Applications and Data analysis and Statistics, Two- and Three-Dimensional Geometry.
Assessments are given at the end of each chapter and the IXL online software program is used as a supplement to practice skills as are “Practice Activities” and “Check Your Progress” in the books.
Grade 7 continues their trek through Algebra

Grade 8 will delve deeper into Algebra and Geometry
The Source Book (textbook) for Grade 8 is Algebra 1 which is in alignment with the Common Core State Standard., this book is organized into small, manageable lessons allowing for a better understanding of skills and concepts, so students get the necessary skills for Algebra and Geometry. There is a focus on conceptual development for all learners, while building knowledge lesson by lesson. The book also develops fluency and conceptual understanding in several different ways, first by expanding their knowledge and understanding of vocabulary, then cognitive rigor, and higher-level thinking skills. The Sourcebook (textbook) allows students to focus on learning skills and concepts before moving onto independent practice in the Practice Book (workbook).
The following topics will be taught and assessed: First the Basis Concepts of Algebra will visited then be then from there Linear Equations and Inequalities, Linear Functions, Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities, Operations with Polynomials, Factoring Polynomials, Relations and Functions, Radical Expressions and Equations, Quadratic Equations, Ration, Proportion and Trigonometry, Rational Expressions and Equations.
Assessments are given at the end of each chapter and the IXL online software program is used as a supplement to practice skills as are “Practice Activities” and “Check Your Progress” in the books.
